The Foundation MIN STORA DAG

The goal of MinStoraDag, (My Big Day), is to grant wishes to critically ill children (3-18yrs) who are suffering from life-threatening diseases.  The foundation’s work is unique as each child is actively involved in planning his or her own wish.

What makes MinStoraDag unique is that, with the cooperation of Sweden’s University Hospitals, the child’s primary physician, working with the child and their family, refers the children and their wishes to the foundation which, in turn, helps make their wishes come true!

MIN STORA DAG’s Activities and Wishes:
A wish for a Big Day can vary a lot: Fanny, a child of 10, now has a puppy; Emma, who is 4, took a trip with her family to visit relatives in distant lands. Johan, 13 years old, travelled to Legoland in Denmark with his family where he also got to meet the famous football player, Henke Larsson, for a few hours and was a VIP guest at a game.

In addition, the foundation makes it possible for smaller groups of children to attend pop concerts, circus-shows, motor-shows and other special events.  They also arrange camps which include sailing and other sporting activities.

In 2009 MinStoraDag completed 300 projects, Big Days, group activities and camps.

The foundation’s Patron and Ambassadors:
MinStoraDag is very fortunate to have as its patron, Her Royal Highness, Princess Madeleine, who is very engaged and regularly visits the children at the hospitals.

The official Goodwill Ambassadors for MinStoraDag are the two popular television hosts Martin Timell and Tobbe Blom , the artist Nanne Grönvall and adventurour Johan Ernst Nilson, as well as a world champion high jumper, Kajsa Bergqvist and the artist Amy Diamond. In addition to visiting the children at the hospitals they generously donate their time and their talents to our fundraising endeavours.

Funding
MinStoraDag does not receive any government funds but is completely dependant on generous donations from companies, other foundations and private citizens. The foundation holds a Swedish 90-account and is under strict, yearly, regulation by The Swedish Foundation for Regulated Donations (Svensk Insamlingskontroll) in association with ICFO (International Committee for Fundraising Organizations).
